Ella started in the Painting and Decorating industry when she was 20 years old working as office manager, she got together with John Havell and they married in 1997. They came together both having two children. Ella’s children went to a childminder and even though the children were looked after well she missed a lot of the first milestones. JCH Contracts UK Ltd Painting and Maintenance contractors.  The company was formed in 1994, by my Husband John Havell with two business partners; in 1996 John became the sole Proprietor and JCH became a registered company and Ella became a Director and ran the office. JCH were one of the first companies to be awarded the Dulux Contract Partnership award in our region.  This means we meet the strict requirements in terms of quality of work and service set by Dulux in order to be listed as a preferred contractor. JCH Contracts UK Ltd work for many different clients including:- Housing Associations Councils Private Healthcare Property Management Companies Schools Local Builders Private Domestic Clients In January 2014 John Havell left the company and now works for a construction company, Ella now runs the business together with her step daughter Ellis.

EAH Embroidery EAH started off as Smile Creative Promotions Ltd in 2006, as a cottage business to provide work apparel mainly for JCH Contracts UK Ltd and then expanded to creative arts groups, schools, building companies, scaffolding companies and many more. In 2013 JCH Contracts UK Ltd and Smile Creative Promotions Ltd joined and is now a t/a company to JCH Contracts UK Ltd.  Ellis Havell joined JCH Contracts in 2011 and as the embroidery and printing company grew, she worked alongside Ella Havell to learn how to develop and run the business.  Ella went on a course to use her industrial embroidery machine and do the software for setting up professional logos. They also do printing of promotional items. EAH Embroidery has a vast range of customers from schools, to wedding shops, to workforces to hen and stag weekend, the list is endless. Smile it’s a Party In the year 2000 Ella set up a voluntary puppet group Smile Puppet Ministry, all four children were in the puppet team along with other youth.

They performed in local schools and many events, this was a very successful group and they travelled around the world, Ella didn’t have any qualifications in this field so after investigations found a company in America who taught puppetry and ventriloquism. Ella Learned face painting and balloon modelling, puppetry. Ella is part of the Equity group and is crb certificated and insured. Ella Managed graduated from her elite ventriloquist performer after 7 years of working towards it in Chicago USA, the only European person to pass this. The team won many national and international awards and Ella won Gold awards in America and Europe. Ella Joined with a fellow Puppeteer to set up Smile it’s a Party in 2008, this was running very successfully being something quite unique. In February 2010 Ella and John had a baby girl. Ella decided then she didn’t want to go back to working for someone else and wanted to see every milestone of this little girl’s life. In December 2011 Ella & John had another daughter. Ella’s business partner decided that he wanted to change career. Ella wanted to continue with the entertainment business with John and her team. Kids Kastles In July 2013 Ella bought an existing successful bouncy castle company to enhance the party business. This has been busy most weekends and throughout the week. They obviously have all necessary insurances. They have 11 castles and sumo suits and various mascots and games. Bespoke Cakes of Colchester In May 2014 after many people asking for Ella to make them cakes and as another arm to the entertainment company, this has proved yet again very successful and she didn’t realise how successful this was going to be. Her kitchen has the Food Hygiene rating 5 and she has her food and hygiene certificate 2 and all insurances.

Ellis Havell, Joshua Havell, Daniel Havell and Lauren Havell and our new member of the family Ellis’ husband Stefan Brigge all have worked for the company and in fact Lauren will be joining the team very soon as sales executive. Sadly on the 6th February 2014 Ella’s son Daniel passed away after suffering with a brain tumour, this shook the whole family but it was her daughters 4th birthday party on that weekend and couldn’t be cancelled, Ella was the main entertainer, this was the hardest party ever! The months which passed were hard but Ella knew she had to keep working for the family and to keep everyone in work and to support her young children and she knows that Daniel would want them to carry on but it is one of the hardest businesses to be in when you are grieving, especially from losing a child. This really was a wake up call that Ella really wants to make these businesses succeed so she can work from home and can keep the older children in employment and pay for the best education for her children.
